Get in the Game!
Joshua 11
Review:
1. The challenges we face get tougher as life goes on, but we can face them all with God’s help.
2. God doesn’t have to use miracles to bring victory in our lives – sometimes He uses our faithful efforts to accomplish His will
3. God insists that we win His victories in His way, adopting only tactics that are in accordance with His will.
Go Further – Read Romans 12
1. In verse 1, what does Paul tell us to present as a sacrifice to God? Why does he say we should do this?
2. If we give our minds to God, as verse 2 says, what will we be able to understand?
3. In verse 3, how does Paul encourage us to think of ourselves? How is this similar to his teaching in verse 16?
4. In verses 4-5, to what does Paul compare the different members of the church?
5. In verses 6-8, Paul gives some examples of gifts. What are these, and how does he say we should use them?
6. In verse 9, Paul urges us to follow the law of love, and in verses 9-21, he gives several examples of how to do this. Which of these tell us how to love God, and which tell us how to love one another?
7. How do verses 14, 17, 19, and 20 tell us to treat those with whom our relationships are strained?
8. What sort of sensitivity does verse 15 require us to practice?
9. In verse 20, Paul is quoting from Proverbs 25:21-22. What do you think heaping burning coals on someone’s head means? How can this possibly be consistent with the rest of Paul’s teaching in this passage?
10. In verse 21, how does Paul tell us to respond to evil? Can you think of some examples when someone actually did this?
Apply:
1. How do you think God is calling you to serve Him and to serve others?
2. Having read Romans 12, what sorts of changes do you need to make in your relationships?
3. What concrete steps can you take to reach out in love to someone who you have hurt, or to someone who may have hurt you?
