Hank Williams has served as Commissioned Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson after faithfully supplying the pulpit for more than two years. He is also pursuing theological training in preparation for ordination in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Long before he entered pastoral ministry, the Lord was preparing his path. Before Hank was born, his father prayed, “Jesus, if Alice is pregnant with a boy, make him a preacher.” Not long afterward, his father lost his life in a drowning accident while holding Hank above the water. Hank was rescued, rushed to a New Orleans hospital, and, despite little hope for survival, recovered without lasting effects. Looking back, he sees God’s providential hand preserving his life. At fifteen years old, Hank preached his first sermon. A year later, he became a youth director and regularly supplied the pulpit for his pastor until his pastor’s tragic automobile accident. Professionally, Hank served the public as a bridge operator for twenty-three years. During that time, the Lord also transformed his theological convictions, leading him from the Pentecostal tradition in which he was raised to embrace Reformed doctrine and Presbyterian government. Believing his season of ministry had largely passed, Hank was content to serve wherever the Lord opened a door. Yet after preaching monthly at First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson for more than two years, God graciously called him to shepherd the congregation. His desire is to faithfully preach the Scriptures, make disciples of Jesus Christ, and shepherd God’s people for His glory alone. Soli Deo Gloria.
