Bible Reading for November 14 – Isaiah 40:27-31

In the difficulties of life, it’s easy for us to imagine that we are being treated unjustly, that God doesn’t see what’s going on with us, or even perhaps that He is unable to help us out. But that’s why, earlier in this chapter, Isaiah reminds us that God is the One Who created the Heavens, the seas and the earth. And that’s why, in today’s passage, Isaiah tells us that God is not only able but also willing to help us.

So, I suppose we could try to face today’s challenges in our own strength, but Isaiah reminds us that we all have our limits. Even the fittest football players get tired at the end of a game – that’s why coaches like to have lots of extra folks on the bench. No matter how strong or smart or capable we are, there are some things that we just can’t handle – at least, not on our own.

So, do you need wisdom today? God’s wisdom is unsearchable – there is no problem too difficult for Him to solve. Do you need strength to face today’s challenges? God not only has all power – He is willing to strengthen those who wait upon Him, those who admit their weakness and turn to Him in trust. So, no matter what happens today, let’s rely on the One Who understands everything we are going through, the One Who never faints, the One Who never grows weary.

Isaiah 40:27-31

27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is disregarded by my God”?
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
