Welcome and Announcements
The Doxology
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Invocation and Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Responsive Reading Psalm 107:23-32
23 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;
24 These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.
28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
31 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
Psalm 121 – (According to Scottish Psalter, 1650; Tune St. Anne, Common Meter)
(1) I to the hills will lift my eyes
From whence doth come my aid?
My safety cometh from the Lord
Who heaven and earth hath made.
(2) Thy foot He’ll not let slide nor will
He slumber that thee keeps.
Behold, He that keeps Israel,
He slumbers not nor sleeps.
(3) The Lord thee keeps; the Lord thy shade
On thy right hand doth stay;
The moon by night thee shall not smite,
Nor yet the sun by day.
(4) The Lord shall keep thy soul; He shall
preserve thee from all ill.
Henceforth thy going out and in
God keep forever will.
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead and buried:
the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body
and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father,
And to the Son,
And to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning,
Is now, and ever shall be,
World without end.
Amen, Amen.

Hymn of Meditation – From Every Stormy Wind That Blows (Words by Hugh Stowell, Tune Retreat by Thomas Hastings)
(1) From every stormy wind that blows,
From every swelling tide of woes,
There is a calm, a sure retreat:
’Tis found beneath the mercy seat.
(2) There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads;
A place than all beside more sweet:
It is the blood-bought mercy seat.
(3) There is a scene where spirits blend,
Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy seat.
(4) Ah! Whither could we flee for aid,
When tempted, desolate, dismayed:
Or how the hosts of hell defeat,
Had suff’ring saints no mercy seat.
(5) Ah! there on eagle wings we soar,
And sin and sense molest no more:
And heav’n comes down our souls to greet,
While glory crowns the mercy seat. Amen.

Scripture Mark 4:35-41
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? (Mk. 4:35-41 KJV)
Sermon “In the Same Boat”
Hymn of Dedication – Give to the Winds Your Fears (Words by Paul Gerhardt, translated by John Wesley; Tune Diademata)
(1) Give to the winds your fears,
Hope and be undismayed;
God hears your sighs and counts your tears,
God shall lift up your head.
Through waves and clouds and storms
He gently clears the way;
Wait for His time, so shall the night
Soon end in joyous day.
(2) Still heavy is your heart?
Still sink your spirits down?
Cast off the weight, let fear depart,
And ev’ry care be gone.
He everywhere has sway
And all things serve His mind;
His every act pure blessing is,
His path unsullied light.
(3) Far, far above your thought
His counsel shall appear,
When fully He the work hath wrought,
That caused your needless fear.
Leave to His sov’reign will
To choose and to command.
With wonder filled, you then shall own
How wise, how strong His hand. Amen.
Benediction
